Below is a brief explanation of the platforms and services that power Aptar.com. For more in-depth details, please reach out to Aptar IS.

The Aptar website, and this Digital Guide, are built on the WordPress content management system. WordPress is ubiquitous, open source software for building websites, and has been configured by Edelman specifically to handle Aptar’s needs.

In order to make the setup of the Aptar websites more efficient, Edelman implemented a number of plugins, which are third-party extensions to the functionality offered by the core WordPress software. Some features of the site, such as the Single Sign-On to the WordPress admin using Aptar credentials, are made possible by these plugins.

WP Engine hosts Aptar’s WordPress websites. Since WordPress is only software, it needs a host like WP Engine to ensure that websites built with it are accessible to the general public. WP Engine ensures the website can handle traffic fluctuations, and proactively addresses security concerns like ensuring the WordPress software is always up to date. If there is ever an issue with the site, most of the time it will be related to a problem with the hosting provider. Aptar pays WP Engine for the ongoing cost to host their websites.

Aptar’s WP Engine setup includes the use of Cloudflare as primarily a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Web Application Firewall (WAF). Cloudflare’s CDN speeds up the display of the site by showing assets (images, videos, etc.) to users from locations around the global. The WAF blocks malicious traffic before it ever reaches the WP Engine hosting environment.
